Mareeba

After a cool night , we were awake fairly early. So it was the usual chores that occur in the morning.

Today, I had the Mazda BT50 booked in for an overdue 10,000km service. I did try to get it done in Cairns but that dealer was booked out for 2 weeks. Before I came away, I did have the service done in Ballina but it has done another 5000 kms so I deemed it necessary to have another.

I took the Mazda to the Mareeba Mazda Service Centre. After a brief chat to the service manager, John, I left and walked the 2 1/2 blocks back to the Riverside Caravan Park.

Back at the Caravan Park, we did a few jobs around the Karavan as well as sort out some photos and emails. It did not seem too long and after a phone call, the Mazda was ready to pick up. This time, Prue walked with me to the Service Centre. Again after a briefing from John, I paid the account and we were away again.

Our first stop was to the Mareeba Coffee Works and Coffee World. As it was around 1030 it was definitely time for a cappuccino. We had the coffees and which happened to be their Black Mountain blend. It was very nice.

We then paid the entry fee to visit the Coffee World part. This area allows you to sample all the types of coffee on their lists. Some are not our tastes while others are beautiful. In this area, there are numerous chocolate blends to sample from chilli to coconut to macadamia and so on.

After indulging ourselves it was then time to really take in the history of coffee with the various paraphernalia required through time to produce an acceptable coffee. It is easier to read this link  to understand the effort Ian Bersten has put into this massive display. He is also heavily into tea.

It was lunch time so I wanted to take Prue to lunch at another location, Skybury Coffee. I returned here with the memory of a lovely lunch and wonderful view of the distant mountains framed by the magnificent building's structure especially the massive poles supporting the verandahs.

After our lovely lunch, I dropped Prue back at the Coffee Works as she wanted to further go through the Coffee World museum. It takes quite a bit of time and lots of reading as well as listening to numerous digital explanations of something you are looking at. I did it last year over some hours and had no wish to do it again after a cursory refresh before lunch. I picked Prue up again about 1600.

An unusual message in the toilet at this Caravan Park
Then we did some vegetable shopping at Coles. Our return to the Park was soon after. We then chatted to some fellow travellers from central coastal NSW for some time.
