This morning dawned clear and not too cool. Prue did some washing.
I went for a bike ride from Atherton to the village of Kairi and return via Tolga. Not that far but a good ride of just over an hour and enough rises to get the heart rate up a bit. Unfortunately, it was a bit foggy near the turn point at Kairi so I missed the lovely scenery.
Following my shower and a few housekeeping jobs around the Karavan, we drove into town. It was time for our cappuccinos and I had some toast. Gallery 5 is a busy cafe especially with the locals. A lot of people in there when we were.
As soon as we finished, we drove a short distance to Big W. We went in to surprise a former Alstonville Apex 40 member, Marie. She did get a surprise and we had a nice chat with her until the demand for her services became too great. So we left her to it.
Our plan this morning was to drive completely drive around Lake Tinaroo doing the Danbulla Drive. Lake Tinaroo was constructed to supply water for irrigation in the Mareeba-Dimbulah Irrigation Area.
The track was from Atherton to Kairi to Tinaroo then to Kauri Creek and Fong-on Bay camp grounds. I stayed last year at Kauri Creek camp ground with fellow Kimberley Karavan owners at a gathering. It is an amazing drive around with a variety of forest trees, shrubs and vines.

After an interesting drive we joined the Gillies Highway and drove into Yungaburra. It is a very lovely village in a lovely setting. Our prime reason was to visit a friend, Susan, that we have not seen for a very long time. Prue was at school with her and I first knew her, and her family, when we were all young in the Gunnedah area. We arrived at her business, Eden House, to be greeted by her brother, John, who we had not seen for about the same length of time. We all had a great catch up and chatting it seemed as though it was only yesterday and not around 30+ years since we did see each other. We are going to dinner with Susan tomorrow evening at her home.
Next, our late lunch destination was Gallo Dairyland
