Prue will have her own post so this is just me.
I left the Resort and traveled into Airlie Beach to mainly check at the Post Office for a small parcel. While in there I decided on a cappuccino. The Post Office has closed in Airlie and moved to Cannonvale Shopping Centre. This was on the way out from town so I did manage to check but nothing yet.
My track took me along the Proserpine road for a short time and then turned onto the Bowen road. After a while I then turned off that road onto the Dingo Beach road. It is a mix of scenery from initially sugar cane farms, grazing land then scrubby National Park.
Soon I arrived at the small village of Dingo Beach. There are a variety of home types from old cottages to very nice homes. About the only shop I could see was the Dingo Beach Hotel that appeared to sell not only alcohol but also cafe type items. Initially, it reminded me of the Daly Waters Pub in the Northern Territory but only externally.
I checked out the beaches as I drove. Then I did a short four wheel drive up a very steep dirt track and took a few photos. I eventually came down the same way. Most of my photos were taken by my phone as the camera batteries went flat and the car inverter had also become unserviceable. The inverter has now been replaced and I should have checked the batteries earlier.
Then I drove around to Hydeaway Bay. It is much more up market but really nice. The homes appear to be much nicer than in Dingo Beach on the whole. I continued through onto a gravel road.
My first stop was at Montes Reef Resort. I had a walk around and took several photos from there. It was really lovely. Magnificent views from here.
The next spot was absolutely stunning, the Cape Gloucester Eco Resort. The two resorts are quite close to each other. This one really appealed to me. It had excellent views, a large pool, bar/dining area and accommodation. it reminded me of several Club Med Resorts I have been to.
I left that area and returned back to a turn off to the former Earlando Resort. I drove along this road, through several small mobs of Brahman heifers to a ramp that said resort closed and no entry. So it was back track again. I was back into Airlie Beach/Cannonvale before too long.
My priority on return was to get a replacement inverter which I finally managed at Super Cheap Auto.
Then it was a late and quick lunch.
I spent some time attempting to extract the photos from my phone. In the past I was able to use Bluetooth to do it but the phone and laptop did not want to play. Luckily I had a cable I could connect the two and downloaded quite a few but there were some in another part of the phone. That took much longer. Eventually all done.
The afternoon had almost ended and the neighbours, Ken and Andrea, told me they were going to Happy Hour by the Pool so I joined them. Interesting meeting some of the others in the Resort. On our return Prue arrived back.
